A procedure needed to be followed while painting a garage floor. The following are the steps that an individual has to follow to paint the garage flooring:
Clean and prepare the floor
Fill in any cracks in the concrete
Etch the floors
Apply a bonding primer
Apply the epoxy paint
Concrete contains pores and can easily collect the dirt, so there is a need to clean it with either a floor buffing machine or a power washer. You may also add a degreaser to the water if your pressure washer enables you to do so. Let it get dried. Then fill the cracks of concrete floor with an appropriate product as various products is available in the market. After filling the cracks the surface becomes a smooth surface. It depends on the floor whether there is a need to etch or not. Basically, etching opens up the concrete pores, which enables the floor to absorb the paint in a better way. The primer acts as a pre-treatment to porous concrete and has been designed to improve the paint adhesion. Let the primer set for 3-4 hours before applying the paint. When the paint is applied on the floor, it gives shine to it.
